Brilliant album by Trevor Horn, Andy Richards, J.J. Jeczalik, Stephen Lipson, Ann Dudley and Steve Howe…

Ok, it’s Frankie Goes To Hollywood. Title track is killer.💿🎧 #nowplaying

great, weird track. jj jeczalik deserves so much kudos for getting the fairlight (which by all accounts sounded like garbage) to make this kind of noise

The Art of Noise - Moments In Love (1985)

Paul Morley receives equal publishing for coming up with the words 'Moments In Love', which may be the most important contribution to the piece.

Fun fact - the "hey" did not come from the Fairlight CMI.

The vocal "hey" sample and other female vocal is an original sample of Camilla Pilkington-Smyth, a pupil at an Ascot school.

Jon Jeczalik recorded her voice in a chapel using a Revox A77 tape recorder.

From their ‘82 masterpiece “The Lexicon Of Love”.

Fun Fact : the team of Trevor Horn, Anne Dudley, Gary Langan and J J Jeczalik, who helped produce this LP, went on to form the Avant Garde electronic group the Art Of Noise after this.

You could be right. I once interviewed JJ Jeczalik about his time in Art of Noise, working with TH and the ins and outs of using the Fairlight - was lovely to speak to him.

Never realised that folks such as Paul Hardcastle,
J. J. Jeczalik (Art of Noise) and Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) made sample CDs in the 90s.

Mind you: none of those will fly in commercial productions in 2025 because they were sourced all over the place and never cleared.

And Horn/Jeczalik producing 'Cry'.

I think of the production on I'm Not In Love as very early sampling, 48 tracks or whatever of different "aaaaaah"s being played on the mixing desk like chords

So much cool and obscure stuff there, like the sampling CDs from Pascal Gabriel, Paul Hardcastle, JJ Jeczalik, and many others. :)

This interview with J.J. Jeczalik is a fascinating glimpse into the Fairlight CMI and reveals just what it took in the 1980s to program notes from a command line prompt and significant hardware limitations.

I don't know how I didn't notice before, Kiss Me opens with classic Jeczalik Fairlight CMI stabs much like AoN.

Going through your list, it's filling some gaps 🙂
