Took my friend to the Manawatū Menzshed garage sale this morning. She was after a jointer. I told her that even if they didn't have one, there would probably be a couple of people she could talk to that could point her in the right direction. We walk in...the first thing we see is a jointer for $30.

I got a new friend this week. 6” Delta jointer from 1953. Bought it from someone in his 70s who had it for 40y (and still had the original manual!) He added a door / cover for the pulley and his own dust collection port.

This is probably the most expensive shop made jointer plane you'll ever see. That's a LOT of tigerwood.
I put a katalox adjustable mouth, handle center, and wedge on it.
And it works like a dream.🙂

Of all the noise happening in the noisy ass SkyClub—drunk dudes, sportsball on the TV, etc— a pissed off old white lady tried to tell me stop recording a lecture on jointer and severance I was recording because I won’t be in the office for Yom Kippur tomorrow.
Let’s say that didn’t go well for her.

I finally put blades in the old jointer I cleaned up and painted. Kind of a pain because there are no adjustments you just tap the blades up and down until you get them all the right height. Only thing I really need is the right kind of spring for the guard.

I just finished up the assembly of this 6" jointer with a 46" long bed - AMT 4126.
It's got new blades, belt, motor, wheels, switch, cord, and even some misc hardware.
I can't wait to make some chips, but it's past quiet time in basement shop 🤫
