We caught up with the Junior Shield Final between South Antrim 3XI and Cookstown 3XI at Stormont Pavilion early Sunday afternoon. It was an impressive opening quarter from Cookstown who took control of the game with a penalty corner goal from Julian Costelloe before Steven Stewart added a second from open play for a 0 - 2 lead.

It was grey, overcast, cold and windy, at the Kingspan Stadium on Saturday for the first game in a doubleheader, the Junior Shield Final between Ards and Carrickfergus. A cold crosswind blew across the pitch. Ards found themselves under pressure but cleared their lines and lost an early scoring chance with a missed penalty.

We caught up with the Ulster Hockey Schoolgirls Junior Shield Final between Sullivan Upper and Lurgan Junior High School on Wednesday afternoon at Stormont. Lurgan got off to a fast start with Maddie Magee and Kacey Dillion pushing forward in the first quarter. Lurgan's Maddie Magee kept the Sullivan defence busy in the first quarter. However Sullivan worked their way into the game and by the time the teams changed ends at half time the Holywood school were starting to dominate territory and possession.
