Nature – J-Dub’s prompt for January 5th A few of the accounts I follow on Instagram are nature and weather accounts. The wintry weather happening in the upper midwest and northeastern U.S. over the past many days has provided these accounts with pictures of frozen lighthouses and unsettled waters in the Great Lakes. I watched a video of waves in Lake Michigan that, according to the description, were more powerful than the waves that sank the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Labyrinth – Cale’s prompt for January 27th Labyrinth is a 1986 musical fantasy movie starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly. Jim Henson (Muppets) directed the movie. It was co-produced by Henson Associates and Lucasfilm. George Lucas was executive director. The movie's basic storyline is 16-year-old Sarah (Jennifer Connelly) going through a labyrinth to save her abducted baby brother from the evil Goblin King (David Bowie).

My parents paid good money for a series of piano/organ teachers who, looking back, were probably glad to see me go. I could never learn to read music.

My immediate family uses this saying when we say goodbye. We've said it since the first time we watched The Princess Bride in 1987. Opinion – John’s prompt for January 11th When I'm on the ragged edge of writing my opinion in the comments of a social media post for the sake of arguing, which is a total waste of time... and I know I shouldn't... but I want to sooooo badly... I tell my opinion to my dogs for their input and advice before hitting the SEND button.

Chewy – Liz’s prompt for January 12th I hear the word 'chewy' and two things come to mind: Chewy dot com . That's where I buy most of my dog and cat snacks and food. I have no idea if the prices are competitive with other pet food stores. I live 175 miles (one way) from that kind of in-person shopping, and I'm not keen on shopping even on-line.

I don't have enough brain to manage Stream of Consciousness Saturday this time, but I will do a final Just Jot It January post. I'm relieved to have made it through the month posting every day. I wish I could say that I will continue to do so but I know that I can't manage it. I've also got a bunch more medical tests and appointments coming up in February, for which I'm grateful, but they also take time and energy.

Well, now that we are a third of the way through January, I'm finally getting around to thanking Linda for, once again, offering Just Jot It January. The basic framework is to start the new year off by posting every day in January. There are daily prompts to assist people, although I most often do my own thing. One of the things that I particularly enjoy about Just Jot It January is its flexible design.

This was my fourth year to participate in Just Jot it January. I posted every day. I discovered new-to-me blogs and a few people have discovered my blog. So win-win. 😉 Four years ago, I kept blogging daily after JusJoJan. The next two years, I did not. This year, I'm going for the daily blogging again. I learned through my blogging and not blogging behavior that I'm a lazy blogger, which is not something I'm particularly proud of.

Scratch an itch is today's Stream of Consciousness Saturday and Just Jot it January's prompt. I know 'scratch an itch' is an idiom for finally satisfying a long-held desire, craving, or urge. Cinnamon – Tessa K’s prompt for January 30th Neil Young wrote a song called Cinnamon Girl. It was first released in 1969 on the album 'Everybody Knows this is Nowhere' with the band Crazy Horse. Legend tells us that he wrote Cinnamon Girl nearly simultaneously with Cowgirl in the Sand and Down by the River while he suffered from a severe case of the flu and an accompanying high fever.
