As part of the Banks Peninsula project I'm working this month on forest remnants and reserves, the last remaining 2% of the Peninsula's forest cover. Just wrote an article about a little one in Kaituna Valley, surviving by luck and the foresight of one family. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaituna...

Had the pleasure of attending the opening of Te Whata o Kaituna today. Wonderful space, with amazing community energy. Am I the only one who gets emotional when a library opens?

Conservation work and recreation access on Banks Peninsula have received a huge boost, thanks to four donors and their “gifts to the nation”.
