So the Michigan Mineral Alliance is cool. Much of U-M's extensive mineral collection has been relocated here to Houghton so MTU's experts can properly care for and curate it.

C'mon, Herbert! Hoomum included the Keewenaw and Pictured Rocks. Her church (Mariner's) sponsored the swimmers that did the Fitzgerald route this summer & there is a big 'do at church remembering the sinking of the barge in Superior & Gordon Lightfoot"s ballad.

I tend to curl my ring finger and pinkie to narrow it as well as pop my thumb to make the Keewenaw peninsula. But, yeah, lower peninsula is easier to hand map. 😁

You should! I haven't explored much of the eastern part, but Marquette and the Keewenaw Peninsula are a lot of fun.

Now that it's the 50th anniversary week: I regret not having the energy to go to Whitefish Point, MI this summer to visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. By the time I hit Duluth, let alone the Keewenaw Peninsula, I was like sorry, Edmund Fitzgerald, I don't have another day's long drive in me

My uncle is a Yooper and I spent a few years in the keewenaw. Float cooper is the coolest thing ever. I was walking with my brother and he picked a piece off the ground!!! So go vote for copper, even tho Galena is pretty ok too I guess
