the difference between Baki and the Kenganverse, which seems very similar on the surface, is that while they both love martial arts, Itagaki loves sports and Sandrovich loves violence, so the vibes are WAY different.

Oh yeah, Yabako wrote a fifth (Yes, FIFTH, there's now five mangas in the Kenganverse: Kengan Ashura, Kengan Omega, the rest that I've brought up and now this one) manga called Blue Ursus. Though since the main fighter is a highschooler, I'm going to restraint my judgement.

So I saw the reveal regarding Yujiro Hanma in #Tekken8.

And while it's hyped, the thing I take issue with is the tone.

Yujiro is an SNK BOSS type of fighter. Annoying, disrespectful, broken.

But the Kenganverse? Tekken parallel. And none fit better than ISSHO SENKIN aka STAR: STRIKE IT RICH.
The cover for issue 0 of STAR: Strike It Rich, set in the same storyline as KENGAN ASHURA/OMEGA (the biggest rival to BAKI, which Yujiro Hanma is from). The cover highlight Hongou Hina aka Takahasi Hina, a Pop Idol level beauty putting on combat gloves. But don't be fooled - she's easily the most frightening character in the whole story, the 1st Star of 9 women leading a death cult that lurks in the background of the main Kengan Ashura storyline who are all essentially Super Soldiers seeking to end the world and usher in a new one. Yeah. you see why I'm saying it should be SSIR/ISSK instead of Baki now, right? The cover for Volume 02 of Isshin Senkin aka STAR: Strike It Rich featuring Lee Yuzuha, a Chinese fighter who uses traditional Martial Arts instead of Modern Combat techniques in combat, striking a pose. The thing to remember is that while the main Kengan Ashura storyline is essentially male focused, ISSK/SSIR is all female characters and combatants. The cover to Volume 03, highlighting Sena Riko, "The Savage Sister" of the Sena Sisters. While her sister is more lithe and limber, Sena is an absolute Demon of a tattooed powerhouse, taller and bulkier than pretty much every other character in the setting... but still one of the faster and deadlier ladies in the property. The thing I love about ISSK is that there's a wide variety of body types for every character. Pretty model fighters, traditional builds, powerhouses, you name it. The manga is a feast of variety and personality galore. Everyone has a unique body, everyone is extremely well trained, everyone knows the risks and challenges involved. And that carries through into some of the most spectacular hand to had fights in all of modern manga. The cover to ISSK/SSIR Volume 06 highlighting Yukihira Sara aka "PESTILENCE", a noted killer from the setting who rarely kills her opponents, but almost always kills their chances at fighting again. ISSK/SSIR is a really unique blend of Action and Comedy, splashing in hints of horror into the story for good measure. To be so dedicated to fighting almost always means there's some element of a person that must be broken. And in a story with death cults, super soldiers, underground arenas run by cartels, a thread of overwhelming societal tension from the unease being put on world governments and more, all three genres are in ample supply. No joke, there's as much Action/Comedy/Horror as the entirety of Tekken's lore. Which makes STAR: STRIKE IT RICH one of the easiest entries for Guest Character nomination I can recommend. Here's to hoping SSIR gets adapted by an animation studio that actually knows how to animate fight scenes really well with the attention to detail and direction it deserves (*cough*cough*STUDIO WIT NEEDS TO MAKE THIS A REALITY*cough*cough*...)

And I wanna be completely honest about my love for the Kenganverse.

Both SSIR and Blue Ursus anime adaptations would be on par with JJK and Naruto regarding fight scenes and fandom acceptance.

Except we're talking The Raid, John Wick, The Furious et al. levels of fights and brutality.

*YEAH...*
A simple snippet of STAR: STRIKE IT RICH of two combatants, both part of a doomsday cult of Super Soldiers fighting for control of their organization, in the ring. A panel from BLUE URSUS, about the daughter of a slain female wrestler seeking those who killed her mom by entering underground fight clubs. The lead, Amaki Seina (who is 5'10 and fucking *BUILT LIKE A BRICK SHITHOUSE*), is the one being kicked by a captain of one of the thug cartels that runs the school she has just enrolled at in order to find leads regarding her mom's murderer. This is Amaki's FIRST DAY, for the record...

It feels really weird that Yumi is basically the first person in the entire Kenganverse (besides Agito's head scar) to stay fucked up after their fight
