Why do I avoid making predictions?

In 2004, I noted at work that I thought the polls were exaggerating Bush's lead and Kerry would make it closer than we thought. And it *was* closer than predicted but Kerry lost. The day after, a senior colleague greeted me in the hallway with "YOU WERE WRONG!"

Holy crap it was packed at my polling station! The last election I stood in line, it was to cast a ballot for Kerry.

Remember the 2004 exit polls? President Kerry does.

Early Data for Kerry Proved Misleading
Some treated the raw numbers, used mainly to predict trends, like full-scale surveys. Pre-election polling proved fairly accurate.

El-Sayed was captain of his high school football team and I'm obliged to note this sort of obvious lying isn't new at all, which is why we had to hear about George W Bush the war hero (never deployed, went AWOL from TANG) and John Kerry the coward (Silver Star, Bronze Star, 3 Purple Hearts).
Mike Rogers: "It's Abdul's birthday today, on Halloween. So we thought, wouldn't it be nice if we got him a gift basket? A football because he thinks football is toxic masculinity! We hope he gains some appreciation for what we love right here in Michigan. Fireworks! Bc he said he hates fireworks"

unironically yes. you'd want someone far outside of either the GOP or the Blob to give them actual credibility. Obama or John Kerry could be an envoy maybe bsky.app/profile/rzod...

Republicans also donated money to Ralph Nader’s 2004 campaign knowing it would siphon votes away from John Kerry.
Some short memories on ballot-stacking.
Remember when Republican operatives, including a Trump lawyer, tried to get Kanye West on state ballots as an independent presidential general election candidate in 2020, to siphon off votes from Biden?

Republicans Aid Kanye West’s Bid to Get on the 2020 Ballot (Gift Article)
Republican activists in at least half a dozen states are deeply involved in the effort to get Kanye West’s name before voters, renewing questions about the aim of his campaign.
