Happy Day 24 of my Kevin Day Advent! And with this post, I am done! Thank you to everyone who followed along!

Tumblr post: Neil continues the story with that wild glint in his eyes that Kevin absolutely hates. "And then he said, It'll be easier if he remains heterosexual." Jeremy begins to laugh so hard that he falls flat on his back. Even Jean snorts, too quiet, but Kevin can feel it where Jean's breath ghosts over the back of his neck. "I did not say that!" Kevin exclaims, upset at how whiny it comes out. Andrew sounds almost bored. "You definitely did. I remember." And Kevin hates him. He hates all of them, hates that he thought it would be a good idea to spend Christmas with them. Hates that he didn't put a stop to it when they started reminiscing in the middle of opening the presents. "Well, I was right. It would have been easier." "You're right, babe. It really would have been," Jeremy says and smiles at him, bittersweet and understanding, and then leans in to give Kevin a kiss on the cheek. Post continues: They could leave it at that, but of course, Neil continues to run his mouth. "At least I only ended up with one boyfriend. You have two. You really suck at following your own advice, Kevin." Jeremy cackles again. Even Andrew laughs this time. "Remind me not to invite them next year," Kevin groans. "No way. This is too fun. I enjoy watching you pout like a petulant child," Jean whispers into his neck. And Kevin almost pouts again, but he stops himself just in time. And he would be offended, but then Jean wraps his arms around him even tighter. Happy December 24th! And with this, I am done with my Kevin Day Andvent and done with torturing this man (for now). Thank you to everyone who followed along! This was really fun. Happy holidays everyone! And happy holidays to Kevin, in particular. Tumblr post: Happy Day 23! Today I am thinking about Kevin who always shares a hotel room with Jeremy when their team plays away from home, and who knows Jeremy gets touchy and cuddly, especially when he's sleepy, and who somehow convinces himself it will be fine even though the hotel had a mixup and they have a room with a queen size bed instead of two singles. He thinks the four of them came up with the idea just to torture him. Even Neil and Jean agreed to play (and even agreed to drink), so he can't exactly be the only one to refuse. He is certain it was planned once he realizes he's the only one who has to drink on every question. "Never have I ever been to Europe." Jean, Neil and Kevin take a shot. "Never have l ever been the captain of a professional Exy team." Only Kevin drinks. "Never have I ever won the league MVP award." Kevin and Andrew. "Never have I ever kissed a woman." Kevin, Neil and, surprisingly, Jeremy ("What? / wanted to be sure") "Never have I ever kissed anyone in this room!" Kevin exclaims, pleased with himself, and watches smugly as the other four take a shot. Later, when he's alone on the balcony, breathing through the alcoholic haze in his head and trying not to be mad at them, Andrew slides the door open and approaches him with two shot glasses. He considers Kevin carefully, and then hands him one of the shots. "Never have I ever wanted to kiss anyone in that room," he says. It hits Kevin like a punch to the gut. He considers lying, making something up, leaving even, but he knows it's no use. He's never really been able to hide from Andrew. With a shaky hand he lifts the glass to his lips and drinks it all at once. Without taking his eyes off him, Andrew does the same.

Tumblr post. Text: This is what exy is to you: Euphoria. The thrill and uncertainty at the start of every game, even when you know it will be an easy one. But also, the happy glint your mother had in her eyes when she spoke about it. The only people you consider family now. Wymack. But also, watching someone you considered a brother turn into a monster. But also, being afraid, always afraid, because you don't know what you are without it. Happy Day 21! Tumblr post: Aaron's twins really want to watch How the Grinch stole Christmas, but they're also afraid of the Grinch. So Kevin sits and watches with them, despite his legs falling asleep, despite the fact that he really has to pee, despite the twinge in his lower back from sitting in the soft spot on the sofa for almost two hours, because the girls can only watch it when they're sitting in uncle Kevin's lap. What if the Foxes finally go on their ski trip, but someone convinces Kevin to try snowboarding instead of skiing. I just want to see him, Kevin Day, son of exy, queen of the court, trying out a new sport and absolutely sucking at it. He's not used to having his feet fixed to the board. He is afraid of gaining speed, the same way everyone is when they start, so he keeps leaning backwards and falling. His height is working against him for the first time in his life, making his center of gravity too high. He is afraid he'll break his wrists and tailbone, so he gets protective gloves and underpants and they make him even more clunky and clumsy. The Foxes hanging out après-ski and Kevin comes over and he's exhausted, and his butt is all wet, and he's even more grumpy than ever. Happy December 17th! Happy Day 16!

#kevindayadvent #aftg #kandreil
Tumblr post: Happy December 16th! Kevin and Neil end up as roommates again when they go pro. They're playing for the same team, so it makes sense. Andrew, of course, joins them for the summer once the season's over, and it leads to the three of them finally getting together. And it all feels very new and frail, and Kevin isn't sure how to navigate it, but in the hot summer nights, when they're lying, limbs entangled, in a single bed, it feels easy. And he's happy. Maybe for the first time in a long time. It's still easy when it's just him and Neil at home. They still have separate bedrooms, but they spend almost every night together. Neil just tiptoes into Kevin's unless Kevin comes to him. As simple as that. But then Andrew comes to visit for the first time since the summer, and Kevin doesn't join them in the bedroom because he is sure they want some time alone. (They don't. They think he does, so they're giving him space) Tags: #kevin day advent #in which i torture him every day #kandreil #stupid beautiful kevin #kevin day #andrew minyard #neil josten #aftg

Happy Day 13

#kevindayadvent #aftg #katekevaaron
The three of them always go dancing together. It's not unusual. Kevin would feel like he is imposing himself, except, if he even hints at that, Katelyn calls him and pesters him until he promises he will come. It's not unusual for her to take their hands and drag them to the dance floor. To pull them close and begin to dance, swaying between them. To grab Kevin's hands and place them on her hips, then turn to Aaron and lean in to kiss him. It's not unusual for Kevin to close his eyes and get lost in it, the rumble of the bass and the buzz of the alcohol and the heat of their bodies. Sometimes when he opens his eyes, Aaron's are already on him. While he's still kissing Katelyn. Sometimes Aaron breaks the kiss and pulls Kevin closer by his neck. And looks at him. And looks at him. Back home, in his bed, Kevin imagines what he would do if he was braver. Happy Day 13! Happy Kevin Advent, Day 10! Even after going pro, even after playing for different teams and then finding their way back to playing together, even after knowing him for 10 whole years, Neil fucking Josten manages to get Kevin in trouble with his big fucking mouth. He's watching the pregame interview, half bored and half amused, and almost laughs when the reporter, predictably, asks Neil why he believes they have a chance to win with their star backlinerbinjured. "Tell you what," Neil says, "If we win, you have to go on air and say the Valkyries are the best team in the division." She laughs. Kevin knows she'll do it if they win. She and Neil have at least one weird bet going on every year. The fans love it and consider it the highlight of the season. "And if you lose?" The hair on Kevin's neck rises and he knows he is in trouble by the way Neil grins. "I'll convince Kevin to shave his head." They lose, of course. Kevin is almost certain Andrew allowed the last goal in on purpose. #kevin day advent #in which i bully him every day #aftg #kevin day #neil josten #i know that man is vain and he would hate it #but he would do it because of the fans

Happy(?) Day 8

#kevindayadvent #aftg #kevneil
Tumblr post. The text says: The clock strucks midnight. She doesn't wish him a happy new year, only pulls him by his tie and kisses him. It's not a bad kiss. She is beautiful. Wickedly smart. Doesn't pull her punches when she bickers with him. Kevin's learned not to expect any less when Allison sets him up on a date. And yet, as he caresses her cheek, he imagines the rugged lines of a burn scar. And then, when she opens her eyes, he wishes they were a more vivid blue. Happy Day 7 with this silliness 😊

#kevindayadvent #kevinday #aftg
This Thanksgiving Aaron and Katelyn visit David and Abby. As soon as the door opens, the twins rush in, shouting "Where's uncle Kevin?" He has no idea why they like him. He has never been good with kids, is always too awkward and serious around them. He doesn't know the first thing about talking to them, so he just talks to them like they're grown ups. The girls seem to adore him especially because of that. Which is how he ends up with a lapful of strawberry blonde balls of mischief, barely having managed to move his laptop away before they jumped on him, and having to answer questions like: "Uncle Kevin, why are you always watching the same thing?" and "Uncle Kevin, why do you have white hairs on the side of your head now?" and "Uncle Kevin, how old are you, really?" and "Uncle Kevin, this is boring. Can we switch to Bluey now?"

Tumblr post: The first time the Foxes play the Trojans post- canon, Kevin gets blackout drunk after the game. Not because the Foxes lost. Not even because Jean shut down so many of Kevin's plays. (In reality, he's a little proud about that) It's because Jean is stunning when he plays the Trojan's beautiful, elegant style and Kevin never got to play that way with him and that feels like something being ripped off his chest. Tumblr post: Kevin gets the flu. He becomes dramatic and cranky. (Well. Even more than usual) And Aaron takes care of him. He brews him tea and brings him Tylenol and opens the window when he gets too warm and then closes it 5 minutes later when he complains he's about to freeze. He never snaps at him when he's being unreasonable or rolls his eyes when he's being needy. But he keeps a note with all the stupid, overly dramatic things he says, and once Kevin is feeling better, he sends them in the group chat whenever Kevin annoys him. I'm going to die. I mean it, Aaron. I really think this is it. My head is killing me. This is like the worst pain I have ever felt. Aaron, I swear, I can't imagine even childbirth feels worse than this. Happy December 3rd! The first time Kevin tries to shave with his nondominant hand, Andrew finds him cursing and bleeding into the sink in Abby's bathroom. Which is how Kevin ends up sitting on the rim of the bathtub, hands behind his back (make sure not to touch me), with Andrew so close, he is practically straddling him, a safety razor sliding up Kevin's jugular. This close he can see Andrew's pupils are dilated, and he wonders if it's because of the drugs, and he hopes, hopes the way his pulse thunders is not noticeable. If Andrew does notice, he never says anything. Hashtags: #kevin day advent #in which i plan to torture him every day #kevin day #andrew minyard #kandrew #aftg
