Get the Dart train out of the city if you can, north to Howth & south to Killiney & Dalkey. Walk a lot. Head away from Temple Bar and explore Smithfield, The Liberties, The Grand Canal docks; basin and Grand Canal itself. Dublin is at its best when you walk & wander through it.
