Set against a luminous canary-yellow background, a serene woman reclines in quiet contemplation on a bamboo bench, framed by a cascading vine of sky-blue morning glories (asagao). Tsukuda executes the composition using meticulously sculpted, padded paper forms wrapped in fine silk fabrics, creating raised edges and subtle drop shadows that impart extraordinary physical depth. Her downcast profile and gently closed eyes evoke a tranquil early morning moment, capturing the cool, fleeting grace associated with summer dawn in traditional Japanese poetry. Sartorially, the piece serves as an exquisite showcase of textile variation and pattern interplay. The figure wears a dark outer robe featuring a vibrant shoulder inset of royal-purple silk printed with white chrysanthemums (kiku) and delicate autumn field flowers.
