Despite the suffering the first loss of the season, the Silver and Black are still getting praised.

The Raiders opened the season with 130 rushing yards in a win over the Dolphins and that was a welcome development after the team finished dead last in rushing during the 2025 season.

In the battle of the offensive coordinators of the last two Super Bowl winners, Raiders coach Klint Kubiak got the better of Saints coach Kellen Moore.

Kirk Cousins, the quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders, explained that one of the primary reasons he chose to join the team was his desire to reunite with head coach Klint Kubiak. Cousins previously worked with Kubiak in Minnesota, where Kubiak served as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. The Raiders’ coaching staff also includes familiar faces such as offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko and offensive line coach Rick Dennison, both of whom Cousins had successful stints with in the past. In an interview with the Raiders, Cousins emphasized the importance of the coaching staff, praising Kubiak's work ethic, humility, and ability to adapt to a quarterback's comfort level. Cousins also highlighted Kubiak’s success with quarterback Sam Darnold in Seattle, which reinforced his confidence in Kubiak’s coaching abilities. While Cousins currently holds the position of starting quarterback, it is noted that the Raiders have high expectations for Fernando Mendoza, the anticipated first overall draft pick, as the future of the franchise. Despite this, Cousins expressed excitement about being part of an organization with young talent and a promising future, confident that the offensive system is a strong fit for his skills and experience.
