The following figures are compiled from the incident-by-incident KMI records published by RefCard. They cover the three complete seasons from 2023/24 to 2025/26, excluding the current 2026/27 season.

This isn’t about other clubs, but rather the short end of the stick Liverpool seem to get.

Unbelievably the KMI panel voted 3:2 in agreement with the referee. They both came in high apparently 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ik deel deze oproep graag, maar ze zegt tegelijk veel over de jarenlange, drastische besparingen die het KMI moet ondergaan.

Eind vorige eeuw waren er nog twee ballonpeilingen *per dag* - nu nog slechts drie per week.

Now the against.

Liverpool 3–1 Bournemouth 23/24.
Alexis Mac Allister was sent off for his challenge on Ryan Christie. The KMI panel said the red card was incorrect. It was later rescinded on appeal

Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) Panel vote 5:0 that Leeds United & Dominic Calvert-Lewin correctly denied a penalty vs Sunderland. Findings state Robin Roefs made contact with the ball - but no mention of Luke O'Nien's challenge👇

There are bad decisions and mistakes every game, Arsenal certainly get their fair share - we’ve had three errors confirmed by the KMI panel already this season, more than anyone else. So the idea refs are biased towards us is just nuts

The point here isn’t that Liverpool never benefit from a refereeing decision. They clearly do, and the two examples are there for everyone to see.

But when you look at the balance of decisions, the contrast is difficult to ignore. Across the three seasons examined, Liverpool had nine KMI errors

Premier League's KMI panel confirms Cole Palmer should have been sent off 10 minutes earlier vs Tottenham
Cole Palmer should have received a straight red card 10 minutes before his actual dismissal in Chelsea's match against Tottenham, according to the Premier League's Key Match Incidents (KMI) panel. The incident took place in the 70th minute of Chelsea's 2-0 defeat at Stamford Bridge on October 24, when Palmer clashed with Spurs midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

Man City 3–0 LFC 25/26
Virgil van Dijk’s header was ruled out because Robertson was judged to have interfered with play from an offside position. The KMI panel split 3–2 that the on-field decision was wrong, but also 3–2 that VAR was right not to intervene. So this was not classed as a VAR error.

Firstly, the two decisions in Liverpool’s favour.

AMA grappled with Soler in the penalty area. West Ham appealed for a penalty, but play continued. The KMI panel voted 3–2 that the on-field decision was wrong, with the majority believing Mac Allister had deliberately impeded Soler

Exactly. And, look, referees on-field will never have complete consistency. But if VAR, and the KMI, and the disciplinary panels can't make consistent decisions while watching unlimited replays, what chance do the players have?
