Liberman's "plan" seems to be that once the Knesset is sworn in, he'd convince several Likud MPs to defect. Not going to happen. But also, he won't have the guts/will to support another elections once the Knesset is in session. So, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Liberman's "plan" seems to be that once the Knesset is sworn in, he'd convince several Likud MPs to defect. Not going to happen. But also, he won't have the guts/will to support another elections once the Knesset is in session. So, I'm cautiously optimistic.

This is what collapsed the 2021-22 government, right? Bennett dissolved the Knesset and called for new elections because he didn't have the votes to extend the Israeli laws regarding the settlements and all policy changes are frozen in the status quo when the Knesset is dissolved.

The new Knesset will have a 67 vs 53 majority against Netanyahu.
That's a 56% majority. In most parliamentary democracies, the opposition would die for such results.
Coalition making is difficult? Sure.
But don't normalise Israel's systemic racism. It's a defeat for Netanyahu.

Assuming that all of the other opposition parties do the same, that would mean parties with at least 67 seats in the 120 member Knesset recommending Eisenkot, and at most 53 (depending on what Shas [6] and UTJ [7] do) recommending Bibi.

In Israel's new Knesset, a clash between the highly educated and the semiliterate. Out of the 120 members of the new Knesset, only 11 hold doctoral degrees in various fields. 9 out of the 11 belong to the Arab parties, and one of them, Yosef Jabarin, also holds a professorial title.
