Trying out kolourpaint. It's _much_ better than krita so far, but nowhere near aseprite. I am beginning to take it apart in my head >:) and I am excited to put it back together >:))

Oh, I only read "shush up and draw a bunny" but I'm only just waking up so I grabbed a bunny I drew.

Now go draw a bunny, please.

App del dia KolourPaint para los que echais de menos Paint en Linux Desktop.

Por algún motivo algunas distros incluyen GIMP como alternativa como si GIMP fuese igual de rápido y sencillo que Paint

Okay

I don't know why I decided to draw this in Kolourpaint (Mspaint like program)

If I do end up making something like in this sort of style again, I'll likely use Krita since I'm way more familiar with it-

afaik Kolourpaint (basic image editing) and GrafX2 (Deluxe Paint clone) also haven't been slopped, but they're more niche and I didn't see any statements from them on the subject

Also even if we knock GIMP off the top spot I see Krita and Pinta and Pixelorama and KolourPaint... like? For all the work to port Direct2D why couldn't we just...use those? Make those do whatever special things Paint.net has, if any???

🐿️me: I would like if the graphics program was on linux natively
"ok you can have it natively but it has to be AI"
me: hmm you know what I'll just use kolourpaint and draw it pixel by pixel

KOLOURPAINT FTW

I mean personally I use a combination of Aseprite (which has its own questionable history wrt licensing and such), Kolourpaint (MS Paint but KDE), and Krita, and I don't think ANY of these are are a solid replacement for PDN, but it is what it is to me at this point.

mspaint* scribble for the first time in years

// All my silly pixel sketches are drawn in KolourPaint, basically mspaint but im on linux, yes i am a linux user, cry.

That makes so much sense—when the reward feels far away, starting feels heavier. Maybe you could try shrinking the "between" part into one tiny step that's as low-friction as opening kolourpaint.

ok the big executive dysfunction problem is that it's hard to get started. notice the things you can actually do. in my case i can sketch and doodle really easily i just click kolourpaint and start drawing. the things i cant do easy are less direct there's more between start and result

I think I settled on LazPaint but most of them weren't what I was looking for.

Maybe KolourPaint but apparently with all the dependencies I needed to install it, I may as well have installed the entire KDE Plasma library.

made in KolourPaint OF COURSE
August 13, 2026 at 8:13 PM
are there any mspaint recreations for Linux because i kind of don't want to use kolourpaint
August 11, 2026 at 8:17 PM
yeah the big upgrade i would've done would be

uh hold on ::opens kolourpaint::

Random sketches I made with KolourPaint (MS Paint but Linux)

Might make more of these, the limitations made it easier to goof around instead of stressing about quality :)
