"shhh... 'tis only me, my darling..."

Turns out there are many links to Arthurian legend in the Scottish Borders - not least that Merlin (or ‘Lailoken’) was apparently from around these ways, and his grave is supposedly not far from where we live now…more Liminal inspiration @thetweedmeister.bsky.social!

I love the legends of the Old North. Tales of Urien of Rheged and his kin. The poetry of Taliesin, Aneirin and Llywarch Hen, the confused tales of Merlin, Lailoken, and Kentigern, which in turn circle back to Owain ap Urien.

Spiral 9 (deep breath): Adra, Citrine, Revelation, Eshotso, Thaumasite, Eudialyte

Lailoken: Morag, Myrddin, Nimuë

and those are just the folks with actual designs!

#lailoken

a character that I drafted after work one day
still very subject to development hell in the mind palace
tentatively naming her Mordred

probably going to be an antagonist in Myrddin's story, hence the name

Myrddin and the Aspect of Manannan

stories from the First tell of a secretive cabal of mages who sought to master the paths between worlds;

one of their number succeeded, learning much before returning from the Thirteenth

Also... I need to create a mage guy in a game called Lailoken.

Just not decided which game.

story tags - some new:
#voidcastAU for Kyrie and the void gang
#dove-and-dreamer for Kyrien & friends on the First
#spiral-9 for Adra and friends in S9
#tales-unsundered for the Ancients
#lailoken for Myrddin’s misadventure with Morag
#13thAU for the actual standalone AU of the 13th

ok, but for real
i've hit critical mass for OCs in the toybox

you can sort through the groups like this:

Ancients: side stories
Voidcast: basically mainline Kyrie & void gang
13th AU: alt Kyrie & void gang
Dove & Dreamer: Ingwë & crew
Spiral 9: Adra & crew
Lailoken (new Morag story)

New Issue: Suibhne Geilt, Myrddin Wellt, Pan and Pushan. In which I present a case that Cían of the Tuatha Dé is continuous with the mad-man Suibhne Geilt, through a chain of Saints, Kings, and Comics in medieval Irish legend.

From the man who once versified the tale of Kentigern and Lailoken to the tune of Hotel California. Hang on tight, folks, this blog is a wild ride!

I was trying to ignore my niggle about the chunk of Myrddin Wyllt poems being too much verse, too little story, when half my book doctoring experience is getting writers to see what they know already but are sweeping under the rug. So now I've woven in some of the Lailoken texts to fix it as Story.

This static mural is painted at Partick bus station in Glasgow. It's part of the idea that Merlin was actually from here, was actually called Lailoken and was more of travelling poet than anything.

La critique de ce polar qui se passe à Lyon, et dont le héros et d'autres protagonistes sont motards, m'avait donné envie de le lire....
