Pretty disappointed to see a handful of notable Portland restaurants lend their name to the latest “Portland business chamber in sheep’s clothing” PAC. props for how breathlessly they repeat the word “progressive” in their rhetoric to justify their plan of tax cuts and more cops www.goportlandgo.org

Yaowarat, PaaDee, OK Chicken and Khao Soi, Langbaan, Phuket Cafe, Eem, and Hat Yai are all owned by the same Guy, who also LISTS HIMSELF AS "Restauranteur".

And the 3rd spot in that list is wrongly split into 2!

Bro is NONTUPLE DIPPING

Also fans of Eem, Langbaan, Hat Yai, Paadee, Phuket Cafe, and OK Chicken & Khao Soi will be glad to hear their owners withdrew support and aren’t listed as supporters on the website anymore

It's been a big week.
Published a paper.
Gave an invited talk about MotherMind with Dr. Ximena Levander from OHSU and Dr. Amery Treble-Barna from Pitt.
Had dinner at Langbaan.
And bought a new (to me) EV!!!

Ninsom's restaurants have withdrawn, claiming “it seemed like the organization wasn’t [doing] what they understood it to be doing.” otoh, Rucker's biz partner doubled down in this piece

There’s SO much good food here. Eater PDX is a good resource for finding places. If you have some lead time to make reservations then there are some real gems. Nodoguro, Langbaan, Le Pigeon, Kaan, Coquine, L’Orange, Jacqueline…I could go on and on

We were actually just talking about how wonderful Langbaan and Gregory Gourdet are; this week they both won high honors at the James Beard Awards!

Oh, we were actually just talking about Langbaan being wonderful. And now they have a James Beard Award. Neat! Just two weeks back, critic Andrea Damewood revisited reviews from her first year of food...

I’m on a three-year roll correctly picking the big winner by making a reservation for my birthday in June, right after the nominations are announced each spring. Sazon, Santa Fe, Kahn,Portland, & Langbaan, Portland. I’ll pick one of your nominees now! They’ll win. Watch

Phishy people coming to PDX this weekend: we do southeast Asian food really well here. Nong’s Khao Man Gai, Eem, Luc Lac, Langbaan, HAVL, An Xuyen, Bun Bo Hue are all amazing. Don’t just go to McMenamins (although they will definitely play at least one Jerry song fwiw).

the Japanese Garden was incredible, urban hiking in Forest Park was delightful, and Langbaan is one of my favorite restaurants of all time (it is very expensive, though)
