A really lovely, gentle way to keep bees.

Disclaimer: the Langstroth hives that most modern beekeepers use still kill *some* bees every time they are opened and closed, but not enough to destroy the colony. We try to be careful and limit casualties as much as possible.

I just watched a worker bee drag her dying brother out of the hive. They dropped to the ground and it took her a couple minutes to pull free as he wouldn't let go of her legs. Fucking freeloading drones GTFO. #winteriscoming

When you’re a beekeeper, and in grief, and get your first ever stye (good times)…what’s anti-inflammatory for puffy swollen eyes, safe on your eyelid, and antibacterial to heal a stye? 🌱 Raw honey. Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. 🌱 The darker the honey, the higher the antioxidants. 🐝 Rx.
