(still hasn't fixed her laserdisc player voice) I should buy more laserdiscs

Laserdisc is sick!
November 4, 2026 at 12:17 AM
Damn, getting the urge to buy a laserdisc player again.

This hasn’t been rereleased/reissued since a 1995 laserdisc. Could this mean…
Home of the Brave is on Criterion. If you somehow haven't seen this masterpiece from Laurie Anderson, now's the time my dudes.

Band includes Adrian Belew, Dickie Landry, Janis Pendarvis, Joy Askew, etc.
Home of the Brave
Laurie Anderson’s mesmerizing concert film blends video art, puckish wit, and her oddly infectious synth anthems into a singular record of the ’80s avant-garde.

Sometimes I get to ask myself wildly annoying questions like “should I watch Wild at heart on VHS or Looney Tunes on laserdisc?”

I have that one on a “LaserDisc”🙄

My laserdisc player. Being able to just buy something like that without having to ask someone else made me so happy
what is a satisfying purchase as an adult
for me it was realizing i could just buy candy at any time
There is no adult purchase less satisfying than new tires.

We actually kinda think Blu Ray is gonna get vinyl and laserdisc level appreciation going forward, at least

fun fact: me and @theworldsgreatestwriter.com watched all of I, Claudius on LaserDisc, the ideal format to watch a young Patrick Stewart be Evil and Roman
Most people knew Patrick Stewart through his justly famous role as Jean Luc Picard, but to me he'll always be first and foremost the tyrannical Praetorian captain Aelius Sejanus from I, CLAUDIUS, a performance so effortless and natural it felt like he might reach through the TV and get you.

I think this how Quintel wanted people to watch Regular Show (other than on laserdisc)

In honour of the recent passings….on today’s laserdisc watchlist….

So cool! Gotta love the Blood Red Laserdisc!

RLV, Recordable Laserdiscs were pressed on a similar color, albeit more purple than red.

PAL and Japanese Rental discs are on Yellow discs.

And the special edition Toxic Avenger was pressed on a Yellow/Green Laserdisc!
Todays #RetroTech has #Halloween Theme

Part 1 of 3

Coloured #LaserDisc

Evil Dead II - NTSC on Red Disc
Not aware of any other LDs pressed on Coloured Polycarbonate
Its very flimsy Poly, feels very soft & lightweight

Anyway if we ever get infinite money we'd start a laserdisc collection and just start it with the Japanese only release of Fight Club

Well, this isn’t a restored version because it has very noticeable vertical scratches at multiple points. But it looks overall better than the .avi of the laserdisc rip I’ve had for years.
