Using PostGIS ST_LineInterpolatePoints to evenly get points from line features (roads) and ST_ClusterDBScan to get (mostly) non-overlapping points for road shields on interactive map.
Using only st_clusterdbscan for non-overlaping GNIS place names.

I did not think it would happen, but I just received my first bill for the Google Maps API.

Been prototyping today to swap Zeniths satellite tracking map from Leafletjs to just using HTML Canvas and D3js its working but I need to investigate more the issues of infill of the footprints around the polar regions as they seem to go weird but fine if just a stroke outline.

That looks good! I've been trying to find a way that I own & can customize more, so instead of Protobox self-hosting LeafletJS or similar. Protomaps also seemed promising.
Have also been tinkering with the idea of using a SVG also, since I want to use a very simplified map it could be feasible.

Clip Studio Paint exclusively for the art part! but my previous maps i did in Photoshop/GIMP/Illustrator so that works too depending on artstyle
then i slice tiles manually, then downscale + change format with XnConvert (bc im too lazy to do it manually with CSP), then code it with LeafletJS :D
