Firekind and Leatherjack - MASSIVE RECOMMENDATION.

Firekind in particular is the sort of comic which’d be considered one of the great Vertigo releases if it’d been published over there. Really involving; weird, bold and unpredictable comic-making

I was so happy Matt went for this book and pairing. Leatherjack doesn’t match Firekind’s sheer quality but these are both great strips.

Leatherjack gets the book- but it turns out the book is sentient, and it starts getting into his head and re-educating him, undoing the amnesia forced on him as he remembers his past.

The second story in this book is Leatherjack, by the same team, first published a few years later. Marshall’s art style, in particular, has changed a bit as a result. It’s about censorship, education, growth, and an assassin in leather

I’d long hoped for Firekind/Leatherjack. Vol 82. Indigo Prime was a surprise omission from the original 80. Here it was, complete. And Tyranny Rex too – the only negative there being that it made me sad The Comeback… wasn’t.

FIREKIND! I had been banging on about having that in the UC since it started and was gutted when it (and naff all by John Smith) never made it into the original. I was so happy when it then rocked up – doubly so that it was backed (as I’d hoped) by Leatherjack. I do hope you enjoy these!

So there’s a bunch of lil’ old ladies who travel the galaxy in “censor ships”, attacking libraries they consider to be filled with inappropriate vulgar content.

Leatherjack is sent to infiltrate a library to steal a particular book before they burn it down - a book with the secret to immortality…
