Ohio 7 is deliberately drawn to be a rock-solid GOP stronghold that strangles what are traditionally a few moderate center-left cities nearer the lake with a huge southern swathe of cities, but it also excludes a few of the more politically activated and lefty towns.

It's perfectly fine to make drivers feel uncomfortable, but how I see this as a conservative-ish urbanist is more of a know your audience. I know people, and I was one once, who would agree with what is being proposed but take the "lefty" language around it to mean the idea must be bad...
So much of the tone policing of safe streets advocates boils down to, "It's mean to make drivers feel uncomfortable." This is of course something we see across all kinds of social and political movements that challenge some dominant force.
When he says not calling it violence would "get a ton more public support", he actually means "I personally find this irritating". Which is fine, this is the opinion site, but say that instead then! There are whole research fields about language and framing and theory of change!

also, again, i don't really care about the computer's soul, but i'm seeing an entrenchment of the idea that no mind but human minds deserves our consideration as a form of sapience, which is fundamentally incompatible with a lot of more radical lefty ideas about multi-species flourishing.
