A fun thing about growing up in the 2000s was seeing the various ways that the Walking With series directly influenced other works of media. Here's just a few examples!

(Leptictidium from Jimmy Neutron, Ankylosaurus from Turok, Liopleurodon from Charlie the Unicorn, Macrauchenia from Zoo Tycoon)

The Leptictidium are such cute little critters. I wish they all didn't go extinct. :(

They would have made great pets.

Like it was a shared hallucination. Every few years one of us would look again & we both have really good search capabilities. Well it happened! I found them, nearly 30yrs later. Introducing the Leptictidium. So we were close! Just happy to know the memory was real. #Leptictidium #DiscoveryChannel

Leptictidium showed significant size variation. Leptictidium auderiense (type species, featured in my artworks) was about 60 cm long, while Leptictidium nasutum reached up to 90 cm, showing diversity in sizes within the genus. 2/5

Leptictidium had the second-longest tail among mammals, with 42-43 vertebraes, surpassed only by the Long-tailed Pangolin with 46-47. Some scientists speculate that Leptictidium could be arboreal, using its tail for balance while climbing or even jumping between branches. 5/5

They do a good job of making Gastornis feel gigantic, which fits really well when Leptictidium is our de facto protagonist.

In the Southern Islands, this shrew-like creature became a skilled climber to capture arboreal invertebrates. Moving with its limbs, tail and trunk, the rhinograde reaches tall branches to feed, blending with the native flora.
