Last night was one of the best concerts at the Bowl I've ever seen. Jon Batiste is a MONSTER musician, surrounded by real professionals, burning through a variety of musical styles and even the sky was in an artful mood. Plus - a Jen Yates sighting!

As soon as I heard that Conan O'Brien started a BAND (The Vigodas), I made a plan to see them. He was GREAT! It reminded me of Steve Martin playing with the Steep Canyon Rangers - a comedian aligning themselves with extraordinary musicians and being hilarious throughout. Go see them!

FINALLY made it to Fair Oaks Pharmacy, a soda fountain shop I've heard about for years and drive by on my tours A LOT. If you want a hundred-and-eleven-year-old cultural institution that churns out phosphates, ice cream, candy and DRUGS - this is the place!

You can experience all manner of emotions on a whitewater rafting trip, ranging from excitement to serenity. That was our experience on The American River in Northern CA. I've never even heard of The American River, now this rafting trip is in my Top 10 things to do in the state!

You can experience all manner of emotions on a whitewater rafting trip, ranging from excitement to serenity. That was our experience on The American River in Northern CA. I've never even heard of The American River, now this rafting trip is in my Top 10 things to do in the state!

Susan and I had a great couples moment on Saturday. She wanted to go kayaking. I wanted to go see a free Los Lobos concert in Marina del Rey. Compromise: We paddled to the waterfront in Marina del Rey and listened to the concert from our kayaks!
