While I'm advocating for plane-polarised light, here is some nice hauyne (blue), alongside leucite (colourless, varying size), and a small amount of clinopyroxene (greens/browns).

Crystallizes in one habit...changes when cooled...then goes back to the original habit when reheated.

Reading up on both #Carpathite and #Leucite I really like them both. I tend to favor minerals that have volcanoes 🌋 in their origin stories, so that has me tipping towards leucite. However, I remain unconvinced, and with six hours to go, I’m open to all arguments. #MinCup25 (Pix from mindat.org)

The very rare fluorescent hydrocarbon mineral carparthite (exceptionally pure coronene C24H12) versus leucite, occasional gem used in fertilizer & dentistry (reinforcing ceramic crowns).

I love Mineral Cup for educating me about minerals I'd never heard of before.

But I'll still vote for shallow reasons. #Carpathite is more colorful than #Leucite, so even though leucite is also "white garnet", I'm voting for carpathite.

Leucite is a white, glassy mineral composed of potassium, aluminum, and silica, typically found in silica-undersaturated alkali volcanic rocks.
Leucite is used as a fertilizer in Italy (because of its high potassium content) and as a source of commercial aluminum
Leucite crystal that resembles a D20 on top of an oblong chunk with white crystals interspersed. A lumpy grey rectangle of leucite, with 2 large crystals at the center line that resemble isohedral dice. A much more brown lumpy rectangle of leucite matrix featuring a large d20(isohedron) shaped crystals in the center right.
