I think a later clarification stated it'd be LGPE style (so we should be able to deposit and withdraw between gen 3 games until they visit another generation) and I hope that's the case. If not, then ideally I hope we get the option of going to SWSH-SV and it doesn't just lock them into ZA onward.

- but man was the DS format great and I’ve missed it ever since LGPE. And yeah in general Gen 4 definitely introduced just a lot of quality of life and mechanics improvements for the series going forward, (though I still miss reusable TMs when playing it lol)

a couple of the mainstay kanto mons have actually had kinda spotty appearances in the switch era. rattata has only been in LGPE/BDSP and the same was true of pidgey until Z-A last year.
