Liam Gallagher has ignited fan speculation about a potential new Oasis album through a recent social media post. The former Oasis frontman, known for his teasing social media interactions with fans, responded to a fan's comment on X (formerly Twitter) about the band's seven albums by stating, '8 including the new 1, I mean happy birthday.' This comment follows his earlier remarks suggesting that new music would be necessary for the band to embark on further tours beyond the current Oasis Live '27 tour. Gallagher previously expressed reluctance about creating new material, citing the pressure to match the success of their 1990s hits like 'Wonderwall' and 'Don't Look Back in Anger,' which he acknowledged were cultural landmarks. However, he has now indicated a shift in his stance, stating that if the tour goes well, the next step would be discussing new music. The band's last studio album, 'Dig Out Your Soul,' was released in 2008, followed by a split after a backstage altercation between Liam and Noel Gallagher. The brothers recently reunited for the Oasis Live '25 tour after a decade-long hiatus, with plans for a record-breaking six-night stint at Knebworth in 2027. The venue, famous for their 1996 concerts, will surpass Robbie Williams' previous record of three dates. The band also has upcoming shows in Rome and Munich. Gallagher's recent comments have reignited fan excitement, though he remains cautious about the expectations surrounding a new release, acknowledging that meeting the standards set by their iconic 1990s work would be challenging. The band's history of splitting and reuniting, coupled with their enduring popularity, has kept fans hopeful for new music after years of waiting.
