Weeknote #44: Pause
A meeting-light week, with some much needed space to catch up on projects, admin tasks and thinking. I was wiped out on Tuesday and made myself take a proper day off to recharge. What happened this ...

convenience is more than just having quick access and ease of changing. ive have to leave a lot of my belongings behind several times in my life, so my digital media libararies have been a way to keep the stuff i love when i had to leave dvds, cds, and books behind.

The FastAPI full-stack template now comes with the agent skills (uvx library-skills) for FastAPI and SQLModel built in.

You can create your project, point your agent to it, and it will be able to write modern and correct code with the libararies.

fund public libararies because without them we will no longer be able to fantasize about sexy librarians.

Hoopla is another terrible platfom. Hollowing out public libararies, book by book. Classic enshittification playbook. bookriot.com/library-hoop...
Your Library's Hoopla Digital Collections Are Breaking Their Budget
If you've noticed changes to the digital materials you can borrow from your library, that's because that access is costing libraries way more than ever before.

LIBARARIES ARE SO GOOD

I wish there was an #atproto action-to-api lookup for popular libararies like the @/atproto and @/atcute npm packages.

This lookup of knowing what you want to do → the right library code to call feels like it should be a solved problem, but library docs are almost always in the reverse direction 😩

The universities are forming little NATOs to fight trump, and that sounds like it might work. How about theatres, museums, libararies, and small businesses doing something similar, safety in numbers?

...Nope. Libararies. Encourage your library to get a copy, which IS revenue to the author and publisher. Anyone reading a general fiction book by stealing it is denying potential revenue.

Republicans hate city-run transporation, libararies, parts, etc., too. #inners

This is exactly what we try to address/counter with our Bookbug programme. Most sessions are run in libararies but also in community settings, nurseries, and 1-2-1 in the home in some cases. I also run our app, so folk who can’t access an in person session can still get many of the benefits.

Public libararies are the one place in America where comic books aren't synonymous with superheroes and Image-style genre work and I have to appreciate them for that. A window into a better world.

The Grinch who stole city funds(from libararies to give to ACAB)
BREAKING: Autonomous anti-genocide activists bring the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade to a grinding halt after blockading the McDonald’s float for a second year in a row.

“Those grinches who thinks they can disrupt the parade: it’s not going to happen,” Mayor Eric Adams said yesterday.

Nice to know school libararies still matter. I ran one for 9 years and it was a constant battle to keep it stocked and relevant.

Now that Newsom has expressed a Pro-Immigration message can we now endorse all the "socialist" aspects of American society that we love? How about the fire dept? police? disaster assistance? public schools? libararies? Americans chip in for the collective good in so many ways. We love our socialism

That's amazing! I think my thinking really shifted when I began to imagine LLMs utility as replacing some of the libararies-for-a-user-base-of-one that I wrote for my own work.
