BROOOO. So sorry to keep resurrecting this thread, but Greg Baldwin, Iroh's second voice actor after Mako's passing, recently SNAPPED on Twitter, and it basically confirms everything I've suspected.

you watch avatar and you see people figuring out plantbending, and metalbending, and lightningbending, and bloodbending and you think huh. isnt the point of the four classical elements that they make up everything. so the final stage of an avatar would be as a reality warper, an omnibender, but NO 🙄

I love the messy haircut scene, it's a really neat callback to her first appearance where she is seething over a stray piece of hair when she was practicing lightningbending. She was always one step away from losing it and her need for control was TO keep herself in control.

And Iroh teaching Zuko to dodge lightning, an advanced firebending technique, is the direct opposite of the usually forceful bending technique. Lightningbending was likely created from someone who probably did seek other ways to firebend!

But her second major scene in the same episode had her nearly lose it when a single piece of hair was out of place while she was practicing Lightningbending. From the moment of her first arrival, the show has already foreshadowed this girl is NOT holding all her pieces as much as she thinks.
