That groove is a masterclass in economy. LinnDrum kick and snare on the grid, Simmons toms for the cartoon menace, and a bassline that leaves holes for the handclaps to answer. Parker knew the beat had to read on a cinema speaker and a car radio at once. Most recreations miss that space.

I do think the way these artists fully embraced the LinnDrum and Padgham sound in ‘85/‘86 is the eighties equivalent of AW 40 years later. A misplaced attempt to try and stay young. There is a reason Press to Play is Macca’s absolute worst album

It was an offer too good to refuse. dinsync.info RE909 copy of the TR909. I wasn't as familiar with the 909 sounds as the TR808 & Linndrum but turns out they're very familiar to me. Oh & 'Total Accent' Yes!! Today I started new recordings and the 909 features on the first track out of the hopper.

I've been mixing a LinnDrum plugin alongside the drums for a few songs I'm working on and it fits better than it has any right to. The trick is making both sound cheap and shitty.
