A fully composed silver laptop computer sits to the left of one with its guts spewed out. Tiny screws are scattered all around. Will its owner put it back together? (Spoiler alert: He did.)

Mac after M1 with Asahi Linux...Interesting please go on #linuxonmac
Mac after M1
I started to do some research on what is possible today when thinking about M series macs and linux. Time will come when apple stops supporting older M series devices with newer OS updates. Asahi Linux to the rescue. I have limited knowledge about linux so now I am on a learning journey. I like using Macs and MacOS but I want to be able to still use them later in life.

Can't believe I didn't do this years ago:

Linux on an iMac, even one as "old" as 2011 (an extremely powerful machine) is a glorious experience & the intractable obsolescence problems of OS X just go away.

Beautiful 27" screen. & Deskflow works perfectly making it a 2nd screen 4my existing work Mac

Specifically, I'm putting Linux on a 2011 iMac, so I'm joining your club! And it may well be that 2012 Macbook Pro gets the same treatment, since I can't handle Chrome's 4 second UI latency much longer.

I use the 2012 MBP for embedded dev: It's perfect for that and yet still massively overpowered

Is buying an M1 MacBook Air just for Linux practical? The debate highlights current limitations and the evolving support. While possible, users should weigh the benefits against potential hardware/driver gaps. #LinuxOnMac 5/6

If I could have a single day where a disk or file system issue doesn’t plague my life that would be great. This in particular is a dirty journal for an external drive using ext4 on Linux Mint. Machine is an iMac18,3.
