there was also concern regarding their connection with NFTs, crypto, and specifically LivePeer

"we only use the livepeer network for transcoding...and its flipped off right now."

Hey, happy to answer any questions about this, I get it. I should update that line, it's inaccurate — we only use the Livepeer Network for transcoding, it's an inexpensive way to turn 1080p video into 720p video. And it's flipped off right now anyway. Ingest and distribution is all on our servers.

1. we only use livepeer for transcode currently atm
2. doing it any other way would be extremely cost prohibitive
3. i don’t think we’ve ever been secretive about it. it’s plastered on our github and has a whole section in the readme lol

To any of you reposting that Streamplace thing for @-proto livestreaming: please be aware the Livepeer infrastructure it's built on has an associated crypto token and so its very name should be like ash on your tongue. Thanks.

livepeer does have machine learning model hosting as a service but we don’t use that currently, plus it’s all off the shelf.
unless i’m mistaken livepeer does not directly use your transcoded video content for training, and if node operators do that is a serious breach of trust IMO

The weeks at Livepeer where I'd half-code something, pass it to somebody in Poland who'd finish it up, and then to somebody in India who'd write some tests and deploy, so then I wake up the next day and it's in prod 🤯
