Every time I hear folks complain that Livy is boring, I just shake my head.
Livy is fantastic. I just did a quick (partial) inventory of land allotments in Roman colonies, entirely from Livy who records the specific allotment sizes for at least 14 Roman colonial settlements in Italy.

Livy reports just 324 Roman losses at Magnesia (but many more wounded - an unusual comment by him, Livy 37.44) to an absurd number (50,000+) of Seleucid losses.
The Seleucid losses are probably inflated, but the Roman losses would have been a matter of record Livy could have known.

At Pydna (Livy 44.42), Livy repots the Antigonids lost some 20,000 (plausible), whereas the Romans lost "not more than 100" (again Livy comments on many wounded), in a battle that was bloody but sharp and not very long: the Romans got in the pikes and what followed was fast and one-sided.
