Noko has never howled, not once, her entire life. Even when Artie was still with us, I would get her howling and Noko would just look at us like we were nuts.

WELL. Recently, and for reasons unknown, that has changed.

PUPDATE: Noko's fecal PCR showed two positives: clostridium perfringens (which was my #1 pick) but also circovirus, of which there is apparently a particular strain that affects dogs.

So, mystery solved, I guess, though too late to speed up her treatment.

PUPDATE: As of this morning, Noko is no longer suffering from exploding butt.

Still very curious what the fecal PCR may show, because I would like to avoid repeating this experience, but very relieved she is feeling better.

PUPDATE: Noko is eating and drinking again, finally, but the squishy booty persists.

I got a SQ fluid kit just in case, but she is staying hydrated on her own so far.

Fecal PCR test pending 🤞 hopefully it will tell us something.

Good news, she had a good appetite for dinner after a dose of odansetron.

Bad news, the diarrhea, and therefore the butthole scorching, persists.

Fecal was negative, so still no idea what the problem is.
