I had this exact same arc when I was familiarizing myself with The Lore of 40k, where I was like "there's no way my characterization of these guys as basically divas with clashing egos in a big dramatic opera is correct" and then I started reading more of the fiction and I was like "o my god"

Early last month I had a dream I was being chased by a digital bloodhound monster thing while infiltrating some sort of cyber archive. Probably not the first instance of a fursona design coming into existence that way, but its still pretty freaky. Now to figure out lore...

I really wish so much of the interesting Metal Gear lore was shown in the prequel games rather than told
I feel like the Solid Snake games balance this out a lot better
Even in 2 and 4 since for MGS2 you're just as out of it as Raiden was, and for 4 a lot of what's being told happened many years ago

Exactly, they're so cool! I especially love how the Spinosaurus not only has extensive lore, but also DLC (constant reevaluations on body and a new genus for its species)

Oh yeah their lore is insane (my sibling @scxrredginkgo.atiny.social got me into them years ago and I've seen them live twice now) I love it it's so fun

I was already a little spoiled about what this is about but even if I hadn’t been, the name of one of the characters kinda gave up the game. Not everyone is as up on historical spooky lore as I am though I guess. 🤷♂️

WELL, the NPCs in ER actually have rather lengthy scripts, and just like the lore, you're meant to interpret a lot about their individual stories through circumstantial hints as well, which characters know each other, etc.—
