From "Korean Art Collection in the Brooklyn Museum" catalogue. The lotiform body is carved with a design of overlapping lotus petals framing leaf sprays. A pulled handle in the form of a lotus stalk is elegantly tied at the top with reeds. The cover is in the shape of an inverted lotus blossom, while the knob of the lid re-creates a lotus bud just beginning to unfurl. The cover and handle were originally joined by a chain, now marked by two loops, which are placed where a butterfly sitting on the cover would have connected with the insect's pupa on the handle. Dots of white slip accentuate the ornamental motifs. This decorative technique marks the earliest celadon wares of the twelfth century, just prior to the development of the slip inlay technique. This ewer's body is in the shape of a lotus blossom. The flower petals are arranged in four tiers, and carved in relief while the veins on the flower petals are incised. The band of lotus petals contains a honeysuckle design further embellished with dots in white slip. The lid is also decorated with three tiers of lotus petals with white slip coating, relief carving, and incision. The knob on the lid takes the shape of a lotus bud, which is accompanied by a butterfly made of white clay. Uniquely, the butterfly forms a pair with the triangular lotus leaf attached to the handle of the body. The butterfly appliqué is attached to a ring by which the ewer would have been connected to its matching cover. The shapes of the spout, handle, and foot are derived from a bamboo motif and sumptuously decorated by the techniques of incision, slip coating, and appliqué. The absence of the Goryeo dynasty's unique inlay technique shows that the ewer was made in the mid-twelfth century. The highly refined clay body and glazing, use of silica for kiln stacking, general figure of the ewer, and the various techniques used for decoration make it a truly fine work of art.

Fortunino Matania (1881 - 1963)
Amazingly to me, Matania is someone who isn't spoken of much, any more. He has an enormous catalogue and diverse styles. But these. Mah gods.
A woman with eyes downturned, a supplicant stands before a bed with a leopards-with-antlers footboard. She is in a room bounded with lotiform columns decorated with heiroglyphics and concave fluting. A priest in an Anubis mask or the god himself descends from a plinth. His hand rests briefly on the leg of a statue depicting a woman holding an ankh while a brazier foams with smoke, before him. Women in agonized fear or mourning plead at what appears to be an upright sarcophagus while a priest stands with a surgical tool before an offering table. Many attendees and observers stand beside and around him. The room's (sole) bright light seems to emanate from a small area to the right of the sarcophagus, out of our eyeline. In what appears to be a Minoan room, a man lies asleep on an ornate bed strewn with furs and colorful fabrics. A woman is departing the bed, and drawing a sword from a scabbard, with revenge in her eyes. A soldier cradles the head of a striken horse. There is a deep caring in his posture and what we can see of his face, buried in the suffering animal's head. Men departing the devastation of a battle call to him to leave the animal and join them.

Sridevi Granulite height 62 in. (157.5 cm) Sridevi standing in subtle tribhanga with her left leg slightly bent at the knee, a lotus flower held in her raised left hand, with her right hand resting on the upper thigh, her hair drawn up in a conical jatamukuta richly ornamented with bands of jewels and a three leaf crown, the Goddess wearing lotiform earrings, beaded necklaces, jeweled armbands and heavy bracelets, with breasts restrained by a floral patterned kuchabandha, a jeweled girdle securing her tight-fitting dhoti, the cloth forming rippled folds over the legs and knotted at both hips, with flared sashes falling to the ankles.
