#low-density
Kinda low density but there’s a lot of it if you don’t mind a bit of a hike!

When making low poly stuff you should think of the silhouette over consistent polygon density.
If removing polygons doesn't affect the silhouette then remove them, you don't need super clean and smooth normals.

Huh: In counties that Trump won, turnout was down in low-income counties, but not necessarily rural (low population density) ones

The red like in Ohio is mostly rural very low population density, while the majority of the blue areas are in cities high population density congested area! Cities tend to be more democratic and rural areas tend to be more republican.
Doh! 😂😂😂

satriano.io/prop3 I put together a quick graphic analysis of Prop 3 support vs existing bike infrastucture to illustrate where demand outpaces infrastructure. I also cross-referenced car free household and density to pinpoint areas of opportunity. #bikenyc #urbanism

The current coloring directly overrepresents low population density. People living in high population density interact with others in person more often (on average) than people living in isolation…thus the phrase “out of touch.”

That is good input. But also, build it to foster dense, sustainable development, and discourage low density, car dependent suburbs. Any town wanting a station should have to commit to high density, walkable development.

When it comes to lower density places without existing infrastructure there needs to be even higher subsidizing, especially in the first few years. But there are also low hanging fruits, even in the US, cities with high density and weak PT, those should come first.

Take the survey, and tell WSDOT that the new high speed rail should also have the goal of fostering high density, sustainable communities, and discouraging low density, car dependent, unsustainable sprawl. @cascadiajournal.bsky.social @cascadiademocratic.bsky.social
Turns out it doesn't rain here every day..and people are catching on. The area between Vancouver, B.C., to Portland is expected to add 3.4 million people by 2050.

What does that mean for infrastructure, I-5, and high-speed rail? We want your input: surveymonkey.com/r/JH5PKLL

Denvil needs some love. They have two train stations and low density

Pensioner communism!

The young rabbits have to work all day while he gets to lie on his arse in his low density housing!

🤣

Notable low-car ownership, high density areas with high demand vs infra:
1. Bushwick + North Brooklyn.
2. Harlem/Manhattan Valley
3. Parkchester
4. Hollis

Huge support regardless of car ownership/density in southeast Queens.

is also hard for me to see happening.
Population density should not be treated as a constant. Quite a few places have low density due to nimbyism and correlating zoning laws. Both can change.
November 8, 2026 at 3:32 PM
been considering a new bit where i become a poe's law sportsball yimby complaining about the low utilisation rate of school playing fields and campaigning for them to be converted into high-density mixed use retail and housing by private developers

The thing is that the planning approach concentrates a lot of future voting power right on that line.

Politically, it sets the stage to turn that arterial into a linear park and re-route vehicle traffic through the adjacent low density zones where it would impact less people.

Assume an avg US city in 50 years with world class transit and few cars

Halfway, is it
A) Low car ownership %, more taxis (~Waymo) fill in gaps
B) World class transit, low utilization due to cars and low density, operations funded by taxes instead of fares
C) A&B
D) Impossible, move to Amsterdam
?

I was enjoying Forever quite a lot!... On the Skyborne starting island. Now I'm in Westfall with a thousand other people and dealing with low droprates in a high player density area and remembering why I quit classic.

I might be too pessimistic, but low union density and a political culture of pro-business Dems.

😄
Sounds like it’s present in very low density down there with you too!

RE is a bad partner to hyperscalers because
- throw LOTS of metal/materials at low density power source
- you need batteries for power at night
- transmission, transmission, transmission

Transmission construction timelines are so long might as well plan to wait for kaleidos microreactor to ship
