CAR T-cell therapy is amazing stuff.

For patients with certain leukemias and relapsed/refractory B-cell lymphomas, it can put years on your life and life in your years.

3 year survival goes from:
10% in historical controls to
59% in CAR-T patients.
The Jurassic Park star credits CAR T-cell therapy for saving his life.

Except...not really. HL is (mostly) one way, and NHL is like 60 ways. Now, ALL lymphomas are pretty treatable for because they are blood cancers that are begin outside of the bone marrow, and that means that it's easy for chemo to thoroughly get access to them (unless they find a way to hide.)

My son is a research scientist working for another major pharma company and they are nearing phase 3 trials on MRNA treatments for Sarcomas and Lymphomas, that utilize the DNA of the patient. Amazing stuff.

"Hello, we have discovered two types of Lymphomas & would like to register them"

"OK, tell me your names, please"

"Dr. Hodgkins"

"OK, so Hodgkin's Lymphoma.”

“The second Doctor's name, please"

"Dr. Ottovordemgentschenfelde"

" OK, Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.”

Epstein Barr has also been proven to be a cause of MS, as well as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, some lymphomas and stomach cancers. I was never symptomatic for EB but my mother had it, and now I have MS. Someone is working on an mRNA vaccine that could effectively stop MS entirely too

an EBV vaccine could have meant the eventual eradication of multiple sclerosis, certain lymphomas, PTLD and so much more!

Epstein-Barr is also an oncogenic virus - specifically raises the risk of nasopharyngeal cancer, certain lymphomas, and some stomach cancers. Once again, Trump’s HHS is joining the war on cancer on the side of cancer. www.cancer.org/cancer/lates...
In terms of what cures are being lost:

- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

fuck, an epstein-barr vaccine could wipe out mono and substantially reduce risks of developing chronic fatigue syndrome, Sjogren's, rheumatoid arthritis, MS, and a bunch of lymphomas

These are very cool. Do you have one for any of the lymphomas?

I used to tell trainees that the only place you won’t see lymphomas are the feet and hands.
This week I’m seeing someone with lymphoma involving the toe.

And also associated with nasopharyngeal cancers and lymphomas.
Virus can be deadly. Look at human papilloma virus (HPV) & cervical cancers.
Vaccinate young people against HPV & cervical cancer rates plummet!

We’ve also seen big improvements for other blood cancers, such as lymphomas and multiple myeloma.

Progress has been slower for cancers of the brain and nervous system.

Attending a webinar for rare, orphan and unique lymphomas and I’m reminded that its really pretty extraordinary that I entered remission at all and that I’ve stayed there as long as I have.

My whole life is pretty consistently statistically bizarre

Among 38 patients who received CAR T-cell therapy for refractory or relapsed B-cell lymphomas, lymphoma-free survival at 10 years was 32% for large B-cell lymphomas and 47% for follicular lymphoma. Full study results: https://nej.md/43Q63h4

Patients w/Lymphomas or CLL should receive antiviral therapy early to reduce the risk of a persistent COVID infection (21+ days).

Helps to reduce risk of new SARS-CoV-2 variants forming during prolonged infections and also prevents cancer treatment delays buff.ly/KCeIcxS

Chlormethine, also known as mechlorethamine, is a chemotherapy agent primarily used to treat certain types of cancers, such as Hodgkin's lymphoma and other lymphomas. It is classified as a nitrogen mustard and functions by interfering with the DNA of cancer cells, inhibiting their growth.

My husband had multiple lymphomas, all of which required aggressive chemo. He's gonna be pissed when he finds out he could have just asked the vet for some Frontline Plus.
