Nice work! And if the boulders are made of soluble basic minerals, perhaps they'll qualify as #OceanAlkalinityEnhancement #mCDR for #CarbonCredits as well? 🌊 (Though, obviously, solubility isn't exactly ideal for a "boulder barrier")

How very inspiring to spend four days with very smart people working on very hard problems for @uscwrigley.usc.edu's inaugural Convening on #CarbonDioxideRemoval on Catalina Island. "It's not rocket science, that's easy. We know how to do rockets. (m)CDR is a much harder problem." #cdr #mcdr

Ocean Visions’ New Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Knowledge Platform Tracks the State of the Technology
Ocean Visions has launched a comprehensive new Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Knowledge Platform, a public, openly accessible tool designed to help researchers, innovators, funders, policymakers, journalists, and other stakeholders stay abreast of the rapidly evolving field of marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR). The ocean is the Earth’s largest carbon sink, absorbing some 30% of the CO2 that has been created since the industrial age.

Amman Stock Exchange Was Re-Elected As A Member Of The Board Of Directors Of The Arab Federation Of Capital Markets
During the Annual General Meeting of the Arab Federation of Capital Markets (AFCM) 2026, the Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) was re-elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the AFCM, the Federation’s highest governing body. The Board also includes the Egyptian Exchange, Palestine Exchange, Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), Bahrain Bourse, Bourse de Tunis, Misr for Central Clearing, Depository and Registry (MCDR), and Muscat Clearing and Depository Company (MCDC). The CEO of the ASE, Mazen Wathaifi, stated that the ASE’s re-election to the Board of Directors of the Federation, reflects the members’ appreciation of Jordan and the important role played by the ASE within the Federation over the past years, as well as its active participation in the Federation’s activities and committees. He added that this re-election comes in light of the development and modernization of the national capital market’s regulatory and technical frameworks and infrastructure, as part of a strategic plan aimed at advancing the capital market and improving its investment climate in line with the latest international standards and best practices. It is worth mentioning that, during the Federation’s Annual Conference, the ASE received the Arab Federation of Capital Markets (AFCM) Annual Award for 2025 as the Best Performing Arab Stock Exchange in terms of price index growth, in recognition of its performance throughout 2025. The AFCM comprises 18 Arab exchanges, seven clearing companies, and a number of financial institutions, including brokerage firms, asset management companies, research centers, listed companies, and investment funds across the Arab region, including the Gulf countries, the Levant, and Arab countries in Africa. The Federation was established to contribute to the development of regulations, promote coordinated and proactive legislation, facilitate the exchange of views, and provide opportunities for cooperation among its members.

For those curious about mCDR measurement, here’s another new paper to be interested in:

The ocean already absorbs ~30% of CO2 emissions, so any mCDR authority must verify removals against that moving baseline. A UNCLOS body that permits trials but sets no measurement rules would govern who can act, not whether CO2 was removed.

Marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) could play a role in tackling climate change. But how do we establish what works, understand the risks and ensure biodiversity and coastal communities aren’t an afterthought?

At COP17, I’ll be joining a panel to explore these questions.

Ocean Visions publishes mCDR platform to aid in research collaboration
Washington, D.C., U.S.A.-based nonprofit Ocean Visions recently launched a new knowledge platform on marine carbon dioxide removal (mCDR) that’s publicly available and aimed to give researchers, innovators, funders, policymakers, journalists, and stakeholders a hub to refer back to when working on mCDR-related projects. The launch of the platform follows the July publication of Ocean Visions’ mCDR digital roadmap, which aims to identify trends and industry connections for utilizing already occurring resources in decarbonization efforts. In a release, the organization said the goal of publishing the new mCDR program is to find avenues for investment and additional research and policymaking. "As the mCDR field has grown, there are more actors, projects, data, and information,” Ocean Visions CEO Brad Ack said. “But until now, no central repository existed to make this ‘innovation ecosystem’ more visible and accessible. This user-friendly platform provides a single portal with an integrated view of the mCDR landscape, making critical information more accessible and transparent for this dynamic field.” Ocean Visions clarified that the platform does not provide model results, scientific predictions, or conclusions on the impacts of mCDR but conducts research on the scientific notion that climate change and ocean acidification are having a “significant impact” on...
