Playtesting the Gameboy MM titles and I think the amount of lag I was feeling in mGBA last night is driven by audio, with my headset on it feels more or less fine
Quickly remembered why I've never played most of them at length, though (floaty physics and a lot of gotcha-type death traps)

So it looks like it's mGBA (which is very accurate but is stated by the dev to have poor controller support that seems to manifest as lag), MesenCE (which the emulation wiki doesn't have accuracy/compatibility notes for), or VBA-M (felt fine lag-wise last I used it but is very inaccurate)

my physical copy of sapphire on mgba so I can trade with other pokemon games, I could totally do a ruby playthrough or fire red run to get the pokemon that I don't have in sapphire, however dear god it's gonna take forever to actually bring over pokemon from fire red to sapphire

sapphire is my only gba pokemon game that I own physically, so for years I missed out on alot of the trading and compatability with gen 3, however, I learned how to dump the save for my physical copy of sapphire and how to trade on mgba so I can get more pokemon that I normally can't get on sapphire

switched from openemu to mGBA because of the lua scripting access so i can have a stream overlay that automatically adjusts my team when i switch it up in game.
now i kinda wanna mess around with this more :>

I left mGBA on fast forward and Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 3 where the player has auto accelerate and I did nothing. I saw him going out a bowl around the map and into this corner. Fast forward a few real world hours (with the emulator still at 10x speed), this guy is still stuck in this same corner

the first rom i tried also didn't work (it crashed as soon as i got past the pre-title cutscene) so i had to get a new one. i'd also suggest using mGBA as the emulator if you aren't already bc it seems to be the one that handles the hack the best

BTW I know I've been reposting my MA a lot, but it's because I've kept hard at work on my projects including Vampire Quest and C/Godot Trek and most of it's programming stuff that I can't really show progress on or painting sprites I want to be revealed when I have the game playable 🦇
