Oh they certainly do now. They realised what they'd forgotten about an hour after the session 😆

One of the final plays of the session was a Str check by the paladin to chuck a macguffin 30ft to the ranger to put in a fire. Had to sink his entire Lucky feat into that.

Your MacGuffin needs a MacGuffin.
Z coming across the pile and rooolllling his eyes as he hits Ctrl+Z a few times, then realises it's not doing anything so he just summons another human to turn into a sexy preycario.
"PLEASE don't wear your macguffin of infinite life around your neck where it can easily be taken away, okay?!"

It could also be an exfiltration mission, where the macguffin is another character that you escort out of the room. The character may tell funny quips, provide their own abilities to combat or an easy way to leave.

But I implemented a system to modify rules and objectives. Sometimes you want to find a macguffin, so killing all hostiles is not necessary.
Maybe in some rooms you aren't meant to kill or be detected, so you have to traverse such you stay stealthy.

The book it's based on doesn't explain ANYTHING. The photo at the center of the story is a 100%, certified pure MacGuffin. We never find out why it's important, and the "reasons" given by the bad guys are all smoke and mirrors.
And that was actually what made the whole book work.

Grani and the Knights' Treasure: Pretty fun and lively, even if the dialogue continues to be pretty bland and corny. The MacGuffin/epilogue kinda collapsed into MCU-post-credits-scene-teasing and was as clear as mud(rock), but I'm sure(?) it'll all make sense sooner or later. #BowersAK

I may have mentioned that I like out-of-the-ordinary TTRPG experiences. Almost anything that isn't D&D will at least get polite attention. And this game looks about as outside the D&D bubble as you can get. #roleplaying #backrooms

Anyway, I love everything about the One Wish Willow and how the movie handled such a Buffy-ass macguffin (of course that leaves the world wide open for a bazillion sequels/spinoffs), and man, kudos to Inde Navarrette who does *such* a good job playing….whatever the hell *that* was.

I could understand a district electing somebody like this. Local politics are interesting like that. But a whole state electing this guy? Fake personality aside, this man is a useless MacGuffin for a plot or cause I don't even understand.

Never actually read Godwulf, is the illuminated manuscript treated like a real object with its own backstory or mostly a macguffin to get Spenser in the door? Ex state trooper and Korean War vet feels like such a specific pedigree to open a series on.

Like the issue w/ JOHN CARTER is we do a voice over telling us we don't know Mars, then we get an action scene establishing our overarching Macguffin, then we do a framing device with Edgar Rice Burroughs, to then get to John Carter finally on screen.

Sonic and the Secret Rings (via #ProjectReignition) is great because I'll finish a tough mission and it'll give me the magic macguffin to leave a region and continue the story, but then it'll be like "or you can stay here and parkour to do weird challenges" and like, yeah, I'm down to parkour a bit
