Incredible!!!! At the risk of making assumptions about your skills and knowledge (which is obviously great!), if you’d like to chatter with other mutual aid groups about getting something like that going I’m sure the folks here in Richmond would be down. They’re great folks! www.madrva.org/home

So mutual aid is really big in my city and this is one of the places that does a lot of mutual aid in the city. But social media has allowed people to use GoFundMe’s and other ways to raise money in order to help them survive basically. www.madrva.org

My goal is to highlight the work and politics of MADRVA so that others can be inspired or learn from elements of what they’re doing, and to raise $5,000 towards buying their building:

This is the first of multiple videos I filmed talking about the work that the organizers behind the grocery store, Mutual Aid Distribution Richmond (MADRVA) do, why Covid precautions still matter, and stories of how Covid and Long Covid have impacted organizers.

If you’re in Richmond you have the option of Food Not Bombs, MADRVA, RVA Community Fridges to name just a few!
I get that everyone is mad & scared about the future. One of the simplest & most meaningful ways to help yourself and others in need would be volunteering at food banks & pantries (year round). I promise you that the need is endless & it will make you feel better than any post could.

I’m interested in connecting with people thinking about mutual aid networks in RVA. I’m aware of MAD RVA and Shalom Farms in Northside (www.madrva.org). Is there anything in Southside?

I woke up to frozen pipes this morning and was lucky to have running water again by the afternoon. Folks out there are freezing, and if you're doing a purge for the new year (like me), this is a great place to donate.

I donate to MADRVA and highly recommend it. They do mini grants and run a community store. During the worst of Covid they did grocery deliveries as they built their capacity.
