Fun fact: for this drawing, I used a mountain range in MagicPoser to stand in as ocean waves so I could figure out where I wanted to draw body parts surfacing 🙂

Friends, I’m very proud of this hand hold I conjured up in MagicPoser. I had to go back and forth and back and forth, adjusting the fingies, but I made it happen!!

Art Secret, part two: I’m a HUGE fan of using MagicPoser for poses I can’t directly reference anywhere. It takes a little bit to figure out how to move the bodies around correctly but once you do, you can do so much!

fun fact: when I was working on some references in 3D for this, I was using an app called MagicPoser, which doesn't have any water/ocean objects. To get an idea of where the body should surface above wavy water, I used a mountain range model instead 🙂

Some work in progress stuff - to show my workflow a bit.
I use real life references (no that’s not my body :), or things like MagicPoser for body proportions. Heck I’ve even used older stuff I’ve drawn myself before.
Then I slowly add more details, before doing linework. Then comes shading etc.

For me 3D (magicposer/ Blender) is easy anatomy + amazing lighting ref, but 2d gives me wayyy better control on color + shapes. Obv if i can only choose one i'll freehand 2d, but when theres an **ethical** way to reduce workload + make my life easier.. why the fuck wouldnt i choose it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Shoutout to MagicPoser my beloved for helping me out when I had a specific angle in mind but not the skills to draw it without a ref— super useful app with a bit of a learning curve though
