If you do not live in Texas, you cannot possibly fathom how much of Abbot and Paxton's campaigning was about the trans boogeyman. Like however much you see from other states' candidates, magnify that by a thousand.
hundreds of millions of dollars on anti-trans advertising being proven totally irrelevant- not positive, not negative, just a proper heat check that normal people simply don't care and it's lighting money on fire to try to politicize my identity- is so, so liberating

There's also a part of this where the centrists who never left twitter (like the pod save bros) helped to magnify these false narratives across wider media. Hopefully this election also serves to finally convince people that using platforms that also platform nazis (like substack and x) sucks.
