Also (and I promise I won't tell a soul) Miss St. Martin has a supply of Liquid Grecian Rouge to eliminate that late winter pallor that afflicts so many of us in the northern climes. #makeuphistory

Did you know? Ancient Egyptians were among the first to use makeup, with black kohl to define their eyes and protect them from the sun 🌞. Today, makeup continues to be a form of self-expression across cultures. #MakeupHistory #BeautyThroughTheAges #SelfExpression

My beauty object of the week is the 1990s Rejuvenique. I’ve had this for quite a while but only just got round to writing it up. http://radiatingbeauty.co.uk/rejuvenique/ #RadiatingBeauty #MakeUpHistory

Another fascinating ancient discovery! Not only is this makeup fragment housed in an actual seashell, it's bright pink as opposed to the usual orange-red pigments. 🐚 #makeuphistory

While we’re sharing ways to mitigate the spread of Covid-19, here’s a reminder all the way back from 1924 not to share lipstick. #makeuphistory #lipstickhistory 💄

“The woman today who powders and paints does it frankly, often in public without one iota of hypocrisy. And this, I think, is a splendid gain." - Emmeline Pankhurst, 1926. She had very interesting thoughts on makeup which I’ll share more of soon.😉#makeuphistory #womenshistory

I swear my brain doesn’t have an off switch when it comes to makeup. Now I want to do a huge, in-depth exhibition/blog series on individual color histories. Especially enthusiastic about the history of green makeup. 💚🌈#makeuphistory #makeupmuseum

Did you know that beauty advice based on one’s zodiac sign goes back to the ‘20s?😱Neither did I. Check out the Museum’s history of zodiac-inspired beauty for more! And while you’re there, tell me your sign. ♏️#makeupmuseum #makeuphistory #MuseumFromHome

Some #mermaidmonday magic! I got this Coets box for the summer 2014 exhibition but didn’t know much about it. Thanks to the Vogue archives & some online digging, I discovered that it dates to 1955, the design is by fashion illustrator Betty Brader.💙🧜‍♀️#makeupmuseum #makeuphistory

The trademark for Kevyn Aucoin's makeup line was filed #otd in 1999. I'm happy to share a personal account from a makeup artist who was instrumental in its launch and worked with the legend himself. Here's the inspiring story! https://bit.ly/3fRHiX5 #makeupmuseum #makeuphistory
