the running joke about malayalees is that back home in kerala you will both be a property owner/landlord and also a card carrying member of the communist party (Kerala is essentially split between Congress and CPI(M) in terms of votes)
I'm just making fun of my own people and their brand of communism and communal politics.

Thank you for that! When we moved here there were no Malayalees at all, and the community has exploded in the last few years, to the point where there are local associations and restaurants offering Onam sadya. And yes, many nurses.
