There's this trope I call "midichlorian magic" where franchises, often prequels, try to explain things that don't need explaining (like "Wicked" explaining why the witch is green). I liked "Crystal Lake" but boy howdy it's one of the worst offenders

I think the best thing that happened to me this Halloweekend was Friday night we were walking around cap hill looking for dinner and we looked inside a restaurant and saw Maleficent and Ursula seated across from each other enjoying Thai food
