Not quite Ramunap Ruins tapping for colorless, but still notable to get some reach in the manabase. More previews at http://www.mtgpreviews.com/TRK

I make life easy on myself: I pick a deck with EXPENSIVE ASS CREATURES (because like 80% of my creatures and 25% of my manabase needed massive updates)

Lands are usually just the manabase, not synergistic with the commander. If you're stuck at that stage, I'd check out edhrec.com/commanders/a... first. I use a combination of that site, and then custom searches on Scryfall.com to further narrow in on ideas, then output it all to Moxfield.com.

classic “thought of a better deck on the plane to the event” but not gonna bother

short version: cut shepherd/pixie, shift the manabase to islands > plains, play a buncha dope blue cards (wasp, geist, jace, snare)

could also see a world where you have namor + 1UU lyra > sage

the only real downside is the insanely painful manabase

Land sets. Fetch, Shock, Triome, Bond. Cheapest way to fix a mana base.

Manabase can obvious be tinkered with but it's a good start.

I think it was SaffronOlive that pointed out these types of looter cards tend to their paper abilities, but you need to have a manabase that supports it.

Cube feels like a really poor format for Strange New Worlds compared to commander so you're justified for multiple reasons for not including her.

One and done with bw lifegain.

Deck’s cracked, see ya in hartford

Manabase should have 4th starting town over a sanctum

Don't currently have a monored deck, but the two in my "I might build this" folder are Dragonhawk "terrible 4/X's that nobody should play" (Like Blistering Barrier), and "Please let me just play Lightning as monored, it's more fun than building a manabase" full of group slug and Viashino Heretic

The manabase was a bit rough; it looks like he didn't get enough black lands to really support the black cards - but having played against the deck, when he did hit black it was a monster of a deck.

🏆3-0 with this nasty jund ramp deck.

Deck was busted and the manabase is fast better than it looks in the surface.

The logic was that backup is an incredibly powerful ability, so I really tried to limit the non-backup stuff. I wanted to be playing 100% creatures (given my manabase) but Saw in Half did make me pause, card is great here. With backup, having a healthy curve is important. Get out ahead, stay ahead

After ripping apart a bunch of commander decks now I am considering taking apart Glarb…the idea of using the manabase and a lot of the cards for something new and different is exciting and I haven’t really played the deck in a year so it might be time to say goodbye 😭

I don't really think this take checks out. Comparing Seluma decks to Giada ones, Seluma doesn't look like an upgrade or improvement, it's a very different deck. Manabase is awkward, and half the creatures are different. You'd play Giada for the same reason you'd play Marwyn when Thranduil exists.

The manabase is composed of 140 lands, or 17.5 lands per drafter.

This is pretty tight on purpose - I want there to be tension - but to help people out I've included 2 MDFC's in each of the non-blue colours to bring the count up to 18.5 each. Still tight but not punishing.

it's not great lmao. RUG is such a rough manabase, and the RG cards don't make up for diluting the typical dreadnought plan. A funnier deck is threshnought, still RUG but you get wild mongoose, werebear, and fling

That manabase be like

Judge me all you want.

But this is what a perfect EDH manabase looks like~ 🤌💙♥️✨

is your manabase $4? cos that sounds like a budget or badly built manabase issue.

Again, I agree that a Commander manabase is perfectly functional with fetch and shocks and some other good duals. But why not printing those lands? More good duals can't be a bad thing.

Yes but only if we also ban the originals in commander. It's so annoying that someone willing to spend thousands on a single deck can just get a better manabase.

Getting the final dials right for the launch build has been interesting. Motivated initially by having the bulk of a Gruul manabase kicking around, it's looking promising so far.

After near a month of refinement with a couple friends, I'm excited to get my new context shifted cube in the hands of my playgroup.

Primer:

High Tide forces you to contend with a manabase that's flooded with blue pips while navigating the draft.

Cube Cobra: High Tide
High Tide is a blue-prison desert cube. All of the lands in the cube are either basic islands, colourless, or tap for blue in some way. Playing blue is free; escaping it requires discipline and sacrif...
