the only filipino folklore i knew of before this movie was the mananggal (spelling?) so i feel like i learned a lot from this movie. A few cultural references flew over my head i think but i still enjoyed it despite not understanding some aspects

It's a Filipino mythical creature! It's usually depicted as a woman with somewhat vampiric features, capable of separating her upper torso from her lower body.

I was thinking it would be really cool to see one whose lower body also had a head of its own :3

Spooky season! Making #ceramic #pendants for a #mananggal. This #aswang is your secluded woman that lives by herself on the outskirts. At night, her torso separates from her legs as she hunts. Stories like this have been cited to be during colonization to discredit the babaylan, or village shaman.
