Manchester United secured a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Leeds United in a pre-season friendly match at Dublin's iconic Croke Park. The encounter, which marked the first-ever club game at the venue, ended in a 1-1 draw after regulation time, forcing extra kicks. Joshua Zirkzee opened the scoring for United with a clinical finish following Bryan Mbeumo's cross, but Leeds equalized through Brenden Aaronson, who was teed up by Dan James. The penalties proved decisive, with Youri Tielemans converting his spot-kick to keep United in contention. However, captain Bruno Fernandes missed his attempt, and James Justin failed to score the crucial penalty, allowing Noussair Mazraoui to clinch victory with a stunning finish. The result highlights both teams' preparations for the new campaign, with Leeds midfielder Aaronson praising United's squad improvements and expressing confidence in their future progress.
